It is a little difficult to describe exactly what lies behind the BALANCE logo by way of a Philosophy.
The intention of the original co-founders was to use the BALANCE organisation to promote a more Holistic model upon which to base the
management, riding, training and health care of the ridden horse. That was back in 1997
What has evolved since then, is an organisation which has stimulated much positive change in the saddle industry and a growing
awareness within horse owners of the responsibility they have to ensure their horse's comfort and good health.
The BALANCE Saddling System evolved from paying attention to feedback from thousands of ridden horses. The way in which BALANCE
helps people to try, and if appropriate to buy, their saddles does indeed promote a more 'Whole-istic' way of addressing the horse's
needs.
Human beings often tend to value complicated things far more than simple things. As a result of this, literally thousands of
different theories and techniques have developed around riding and training horses. Many fall into the trap of being overly
complicated, which, in our experience, horses are not particularly impressed by, or interested in!
Carol and Lesley (two of the co-founders) have developed a method of teaching that has changed the relationship between countless
horses and riders by helping them to create simple, learning environments within which they can progress in partnership towards a
goal that the horse finds as acceptable and desirable as his rider!
At the core of everything that the people behind BALANCE do, is a commitment to keep learning and then sharing what is learned
with others who care about horses.
The source of their education?
It has always been, and will continue to be, the horses themselves.
